You’ll travel through highways and byways (all under one roof) to learn about opportunities for you to get involved and make a difference. More than 1,200 people have taken this annual excursion and have become board members and volunteers for organizations they are passionate about. We hope you’ll climb aboard this year, and find the seat you’ve been looking for.
You’ve heard this before, “volunteerism is important…and you need to get involved.” Do you know where to look? Do you want to be inspired? Do you want to share your gifts, talent and energy to help benefit the community? Decide to “get on board” today. That is exactly what we invite YOU to do. At Get on Board, you can meet with various nonprofits in central Indiana. You will have the chance to hear from the leaders of nonprofits about the organization’s mission, who they are serving in the community and the critical needs that exists. Get on Board lends you the chance to step up and be a prospective volunteer, board member and advocate for a cause that stirs you. We will begin to take 2009 exhibitor applications later in the year, but click here to see the 2008 Exhibitor Booklet.
Get on Board is an important community event and it will be meaningful to you or your employees. As you know, volunteering or joining a board provides many benefits. Let us break it down for you.
- By participating in community service, you will learn new management and leadership skills including the ability to think and act more strategically. Watch these skills transfer back to the work place.
- Nonprofit organizations will acquire a passionate individual who demonstrates passion for the organization and the ability to contribute critical business resources and expertise.
- Your business will benefit when the corporate name is extended out into the community through professional networking. Also, employee morale, retention and recruitment will be enhanced by the opportunity for board service.
We believe that community service needs to be intentional. Get on Board will help you navigate and determine the best fit for you. As your walking down “Volunteer Way” or “Board Member Drive” at the Eiteljorg, you will meet various nonprofits delivering a myriad of needs for the community. You can expect to see arts and culture organizations, nonprofits providing a critical social benefit, healthcare organizations, education-based nonprofits and many others. Click here to see a list of the 2008 exhibitors--2009 applications will be available shortly. Be prepared to ask questions, be informed and educate yourself about engagement opportunities.
The annual Get on Board event connects community leaders, business professionals, corporate executives and others interested in making a positive impact in our community with participating nonprofit organizations in need of qualified board members and volunteers.
